1 - Ammar Shakar in Death - Sept 14,2003
Physicians at Medicine City Hospital, Baghdad, Iraq attempt to defibrillate gunshot victim Ammar Shakar,26. Physicians said that Shakar had been shot in the lower left leg about 10 days earlier, but did not know by whom. His wounds, according to hospital officials, were complicated by renal failure which itself was linked to lack of available medicines and functional medical equipment. Shakar was pronounced dead three minutes after this photo was taken.

An al-Quds (Jerusalem) Militiawoman poses during the annual Militia Parade in Tikrit, Iraq. The parade was held every Feb. 8 to honor the birthday of Sadaam Hussein, who was born in a village bordering Tikrit. Al-Quds Militia and Other were a civilian force ostensibly dedicated to the liberation of Palestine.
